INVIVO 21-Day Fitness Challenge: Functional Mobility

Are you ready for a Challenge?

Join INVIVO’s FREE 21-Day Fitness Challenge. This month our Challenge is Mobility.

Each month we will feature a new challenge targeting specific movement skills that will help make you stronger and fitter to handle the physical challenges of your daily life.

July: Functional Mobility

Functional mobility is having the ability to move the body around in your environment in order to participate in the activities of daily living (ADLs) as well as get from place to place.

Functional mobility exercises focus on preparing your body for physical tasks that you already achieve every day. Movements include standing, bending, rotating, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and climbing.

These exercises and training are geared toward developing your muscles and joints to make it easier and safer to perform everyday activities. Your body will learn to work together as a unit, instead of individual parts.

Functional mobility exercises are used in pre-hab and rehab by physical therapists, trainers and other movement specialists to help improve basic functional movement patterns by focusing on core stability, joint mobilization, and movement proficiency.

NOTE: When performing functional mobility exercises, it’s important to move throughout the full range of motion and to breathe normally.

Making healthy choices is easier with the support of others. Encourage a friend to join the INVIVO 21-Day Fitness Challenge too!
