Q&A with Nicole Kopish
Q. How long have you been a massage therapist?
A. I have been practicing Massage Therapy and other healing modalities since 2013. I hold a diploma in Massage Therapy from Anthem College-Brookfield, Wisconsin.
Q. What areas do you specialize in?
A. I specialize in and enjoy performing Deep Tissue, Swedish relaxation massage, and energy work (Reiki).
Q. What brought you to your current style of practice?
A. In 2012, I was awakened to the vast and wonderful world of holistic healing practices, and I found within myself a deep desire to help people feel at peace within their mind, spirit, and body.
My style is intuitive as well as anatomically informed, and it will continue to transform and deepen as I plan on continuing my education in holistic modalities for years to come.
My unique perspective also helps me see the interconnection of the entire system to address my clients concerns with a 360-degree approach that has longer lasting results.
Q. What can a new patient expect?
A. New Massage Therapy clients can expect a warm welcome, and to be authentically listened to as they express what they would like to focus on during their session. I do my best to tailor each session to my client’s specific needs.
I value active listening and conscious communication and will give you safe space and time for the option to share how you are feeling physically or emotionally to receive your ideal massage for the day.
All new clientele can expect me to approach the massage with professional awareness of limitations due to past injuries, experiences and personal contraindications.
I take extensive notes so that all my return clients feel heard and respected. This also ensures that the majority of your session time will be hands-on time.
Q. What recent industry trends have you found most noteworthy?
A. I find it very uplifting that Massage Therapy and Energy work are being more widely accepted by western science and medical facilities. In my opinion, a doctor prescribing Massage Therapy when applicable before jumping to prescription drugs is a great advancement to healthcare.
Q. What are your current personal wellness goals and how are you addressing them?
A. I am currently working on cultivating many forms of wellness in my life. Meditation and energy work are a consistent practice in mental and spiritual well being for me, and I am committing to my physical wellness with regular yoga, running, weight training, and massage. For emotional wellness, I enjoy journaling and self expression through song. I also work with herbs to promote health and ease within my body and mind.
Q. What is your favorite beautiful spot in Milwaukee?
A. I love the Milwaukee lake front, specifically the rocky shore just north of Bradford Beach. The sound of the water crashing against the rocks and the vastness of blue water and sky are very calming and centering for me.
Q. What is your favorite place to eat in Milwaukee?
A. Beerline Café is a consistent favorite of mine. There are so many tasty, healthy, plant based options!
Q. What are your top three favorite things to do/hobbies?
A. I love making art in many forms, like painting, beadwork, and sewing. I enjoy music immensely, listening to it, dancing to it, and creating it. Being in nature always brings me peace and joy.
Q. What do you do to de-stress?
A. When I am stressed, I make myself an herbal tea, sit in a cozy spot, and listen to music while I focus on my breath, inhaling the steam of the tea. Dancing is also helpful in clearing my mind and releasing excess energy.
