Why Physical Therapist’s Never Stop Studying

physical therapy hip pain PT adjustment

When a physical therapy client says their “hip hurts”, it is not a simple issue. Hip pain is just one variable in a complex and interconnected state of dysfunctions.

Hip pain could be any one of many dysfunctional hip conditions. Hip Bursitis. Femeroacetabular Impingement. Inguinal Hernia. Athletic Pubalgia. Lumbar Radiculopathy. Stress Fracture. Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome. Osteoarthritis. Sacroiliac Joint Pain. Deep Gluteal Pain syndrome.

All of these hip pain conditions are just titles for a more complex story of often long term and repetitive [and sometimes traumatic] biomechanical, adaptive, physiological, psychological and environmental stressors. Poor postures, static postures, repetitive movement patterns, flat feet, hyper-mobility, work demands, and so many other variables are involved in creating hip pain and limiting a full active lifestyle.

A good Physical Therapy diagnosis and treatment plan takes what INVIVO Wellness’s Owner and Physical Therapist, Maurice Dumit, MPT, calls “Orthopedic Forensics.” Every presentation, every sign, every symptom are clues that help us to solve these often complex pain issues.

This is why Physical Therapists (PTs) never stop studying, practicing, developing their skills, and clinical wisdom.

Developing and using current, best-practice tests and treatments are the foundation to healing.

If you’re experiencing some pain that prevents you from living your best life, set up an EVALUATION with INVIVO Wellness’s Owner and Physical Therapist, Maurice Dumit, MPT. Let us help you get and keep moving.
